Patrick Shai
was a South African actor best known for "Hearts & Minds", "Cry, the Beloved Country" and "7de Laan". He appeared in numerous stage plays, television productions and feature films both in South Africa and abroad. Patrick was also a founder member of Free Film Makers, an alternative to then-mainstream television in South Africa. His television credits include "Ashes to Ashes", the BBC mini-series "Rhodes", the SABC2 mini-series "Noah's Ark" as well as many made-for-TV movies. His extensice feature film resume includes "The Bang Bang Club", "Discreet" and "The Bone Snatcher". Patrick was one of the leading voices and campaigners to end gender based violence after courageously stepping forward to share that he is a former abuser. He has since established several active men's groups in his hometown Soweto to share his experience and encourage men to speak up and seek help. Patrick lived with his wife in Johannesburg, South Africa.
